Understanding Certified Installation for Intrinsically Safe Devices

Using consumer electronics like iPads and iPhones in hazardous environments requires strict adherence to safety standards to prevent ignition of flammable materials. Our certified installation service ensures that your device, when enclosed in one of our specialized cases, meets the rigorous requirements for Class 1 Division 2 hazardous areas. This process is not just about placing a case on a device; it’s a documented procedure performed by trained technicians to ensure the assembly is performed correctly, which is required to validate the C1D2 certification.

Key Features & Benefits of Our Certified Installation Service

Opting for our certified installation provides several critical advantages for safety and operational reliability in hazardous locations. Understanding these benefits helps clarify why this process is essential for C1D2 compliance.

  • Verified C1D2 Assembly: Our technicians apply a C1D2 certification label only after a successful installation. This label serves as official proof that the device meets stringent safety protocols and is approved for use in specified hazardous zones.
  • Expert Installation: The installation is performed by technicians with specialized training. This mitigates the risk of improper fitting, which could compromise the case’s protective integrity and void the certification.
  • Turnkey Convenience: The process is designed to be seamless. You can send us your existing device or purchase a new one directly from us, and we handle the entire installation process, returning a field-ready, certified device.
  • Maintained Device Integrity: Our experts ensure that the case is installed without damaging the device, preserving its functionality while validating its certification for use in Class 1 Division 2 environments.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What iPads and iPhones need to be sent for certified install vs. self installation?

iPads and iPhones that require a Class 1 Division 2 certification label must be sent to our certified installation technicians. They will install the case at no charge and attach the certification and install label. Alternatively, you can also buy the iPad directly from us and we will install the case for free. You will be notified with the installation progress as well as the shipping date of the device back to your address.

What if I do not want to send my device for certified install?

We can ship you a case for self-installation. HOWEVER, the device will NOT have the Class 1 Division 2 certification label. The final assembly will not carry the Class 1 Division 2 certification label. While the case is designed to meet standards including ATEX Zone 2, the C1D2 certification for the complete device-in-case assembly is only validated through our documented installation process. It will be the exact same case just that it will not come with the certification C1D2 label.

What iPad and iPhone products have to be sent for certified install?

All of our cases that require a Class 1 Division 2 certification are required for certified install. Below are a few examples for Hazardous Area iPads and iPhones:

iPad Pro 10.5in Cases
iPad 9.7in 6th Generation
iPad Pro 9.7in Cases

Where Do I Send My Device?

You can send your device to this address: 5554 S Peek Rd #23 Katy, Texas 77450, USA

What will happen after I sent my device to you?

As soon as your device arrives in our office, our expert technicians will install the case and place the Class 1 Division 2 certification label on your iPad or iPhone. This label will allow you to use your iPad around C1D2 hazardous areas.

How long to install and ship?

Installation takes less than 24 hours to complete. Expect your device to be shipped back to your address after the installation. Shipping takes 3-5 business days typically via FedEx.

Why do you have to install?

The C1D2 sticker attached in your iPad or iPhone case means that your device has met the strict safety protocol and is qualified for use in Class 1 Division 2 hazardous areas. For this reason, only a certified technician is allowed to complete the installation.
