Description

ACC Model LWCHN-120-ADE-316-MOD-C1 Harsh-Duty Air Conditioner

The Aero Conditioner Company Model LWCHN-120-ADE-316-MOD-C1 is a rugged, 120,000 BTU/Hr packaged air conditioner specifically engineered to cool enclosures on offshore platforms, such as those in the Gulf of Mexico. Designed for continuous year-round operation, this unit is built from the ground up to withstand highly corrosive petroleum gases, marine air, airborne dust, and extreme high-ambient temperatures that would compromise standard commercial equipment.

This unit prioritizes field reliability by using 100% mechanical controls, eliminating fragile electronics prone to failure in harsh industrial settings. Its performance is optimized for remote locations, featuring widely spaced fins (10 FPI) to prevent clogging and maintenance-friendly access panels that allow easy coil cleaning without unit disassembly.

Key Features:

✅ ETL-certified Class I Groups C and D Division 1 (Pending re-certification)
✅ 100% Mechanical Controls – No fragile electronics or specialized software needed
✅ NEMA 4X / IP66 gas-tight control enclosures; overall unit meets NEMA 4X and IP56 standards
✅ Dry contacts operating on intrinsically safe current for flexible remote control installation
✅ Heavy-duty protection on evaporators and condensers applied by immersion and baked for curing
✅ Non-flammable R513a refrigerant to comply with modern environmental regulations
✅ Hermetically-sealed scroll compressor recognized by UL for rated environments
✅ Type 316 heavy-gauge stainless steel construction for the entire cabinet and internal parts
✅ 10 fins per inch (FPI) density on coils to reduce clogging from dust and sand

FAQs:

Can this unit handle extreme heat?
Yes, the L-Series maintains its full rated cooling capacity at ambient temperatures up to 110°F (43°C).  The A-Series maintains its full rated cooling capacity at ambient temperatures up to 131°F (55°C)-with the option of up to 145ºF (63ºC).

How does it resist corrosion in marine environments?
The unit features a heavy-gauge 316 stainless steel cabinet (even the smallest sheet-metal parts)d and coils that are immersion-coated (not sprayed) and baked for maximum durability.  In addition, other sensitive
components are either isolated in NEMA 4X/IP66 boxes or protected with a 316 stainless-steel coating.

Why does it use mechanical controls instead of digital?
Mechanical controls eliminate the vulnerability of fragile electronics to heat and vibration, making them easier to repair, even in remote field locations, without specialized skills, tools, or parts.

Is this unit suitable for dusty areas?
Absolutely.  Aero designs and builds its coils with wide fin spacing, a maximum of 10 FPI (fins per inch), and more widely separated when necessary to allow dust, sand, and other debris to pass through without clogging.

Where are these air conditioners designed and manufactured?
In Aero Conditioner’s plant in Selkirk, New York, U.S.A.

Does Aero Conditioner Company offer air conditioners for applications with extreme vibration?
Yes.  ACC can adapt its equipment for all levels of expected vibration.  If required, they can meet the requirements of U.S. Mil Spec 810H and have passed the required tests.

How many configurations of air conditioners does Aero Conditioner Company have to offer?

Six (6):

Through-the-wall/Packaged
Roof-Mount
Ductless-Split
Vertical/Wall-Hung
Mobile
Container/Interior

Can Aero Conditioner Company manufacture air conditioners with humidity control?

Yes, if the air conditioner incorporates the option of electrical-resistance heat, Aero can include a humidistat to help control the humidity.  Since the air conditioner removes humidity by condensing water vapor on the cold evaporator, the humidistat will run the heat to add a load and keep the air conditioner cooling and condensing out humidity after it reaches the set point, while preventing the temperature from going below the set point.
