Light Head for Hazardous Areas
Introduction
The Explosion Proof LED Light Head AE Light is a high-end, adjustable, and locking device bracket. It holds certifications for multiple international standards, including ATEX/IECEx ratings for Zone 1, 2, 21, and 22, and NEC/CEC ratings for Class I, Division 1 & 2 and Class II, Division 1 & 2. Its aluminum body is powder coated to avoid corrosion. Keep reading to see more features and benefits of this explosion-proof equipment.
Ideal for Hazardous Areas
Introducing the explosion-proof LED light head AE Light, which is ideal for use in oil fields and chemical plants.
This LED light head produces up to 14,000 lumens—the equivalent of 250W to 400W metal halide. It features multiple input voltages and can be used in a variety of applications. The LED’s are made by BridgeLux, which use approximately 60% less energy than equivalent metal halide lamps with the same output. The driver is Meanwell from Taiwan, with a power factor greater than 0.98 for continuous stable performance.
Hazardous Location Lights: Explosion-proof HID and LED lights are designed for use in areas where flammable or explosive particles have the potential to exist, and the possibility of ignition is possible. They are rated for Class I, Division 1 & 2 or Class II, Division 1 & 2 as specified by UL standards. These areas include offshore lights, rig lights, spray booths, cleaning vessels, fuel cells, plant turnarounds, marine work areas, grain storage, dust or munitions.
Key Features & Benefits
The explosion-proof LED light head is engineered for both safety and performance. Its adjustable design allows you to precisely direct illumination, which is critical in complex industrial settings. The locking device on the bracket ensures that once positioned, the light remains fixed, resisting vibration and accidental knocks. The rugged aluminum body’s powder-coated finish provides a durable barrier against corrosion (WF2 grade), a common issue in chemical plants and offshore platforms. Furthermore, its IP66 rating signifies it is completely dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets, making it reliable in wet or dusty environments. Flame-proof ‘Ex d’ protection is its core safety feature, containing any potential internal ignition and preventing it from spreading to the external hazardous explosive environments.

FAQs
What makes the AE Light LED Head “explosion-proof”?
This light is rated “explosion-proof” (Ex d) because its housing is constructed to contain any spark or explosion originating within the unit. This prevents the ignition of flammable gases, vapors, or dust present in the surrounding hazardous environment, which is a core requirement for hazardous location lights.
What is the difference between Zone 1 and Zone 2 ratings?
Zone 1 is an area where an explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation occasionally. Zone 2 is an area where an explosive atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operation but, if it does occur, will persist for a short period only. This light’s dual certification makes it versatile for different risk levels.
Can this light head be used in environments with combustible dust?
Yes, it is certified for combustible dust environments under both IEC/ATEX (Zone 21 and Zone 22) and NEC (Class II, Group E) standards. This makes it suitable for applications in industries like grain storage, food processing, and munitions.
How does the energy consumption compare to traditional lighting?
The advanced BridgeLux LEDs use approximately 60% less energy than a metal halide lamp with the same lumen output. This results in significant energy savings and a lower total cost of ownership over the life of the fixture.
