The COSA Xentaur HTF Intrinsically Safe Replacement Sensor is approved for use in Class I Division II hazardous environments. The model XDT of the Xentaur Hyper-Thin-Film (HTF) AL2O3 Moisture Sensor Technology utilizes a Xentaur HTF Aluminum Oxide sensor. The ground-breaking HTF sensor technology improves thin-film and metal oxide sciences and significantly outperforms all previous aluminum oxide sensors in terms of performance. The HTF aluminum oxide sensors operate on the idea that a hygroscopic layer of aluminum oxide adsorbs or releases water molecules inside its pores in response to the surrounding water vapor pressure. The aluminum oxide layer’s electrical capacitance varies in response to the surrounding water vapor pressure.
The electrical capacitance is measured between the sensor’s aluminum core and an external porous conductive gold coating. The advantages of the HTF sensor technology are due to the patented manufacturing process used to make the aluminum oxide layer exceedingly thin and hygroscopic. As a consequence, a highly sensitive sensor with a rapid reaction is created.
